Pearl Crescent

Here's a Pearl Crescent butterfly stopping not to smell the flowers but to drink them, or at least their nectar. And while drinking all day long may have negative connotations for humans, the butterfly community endorses drinking heavily during daylight hours.

And at least I think it's a Pearl Crescent; while the North American Butterfly Association says that's our only crescent butterfly, my field guides suggest the very similar Northern Crescent and Tawny Crescent might show up in New Jersey too.
